Petsila training me in Ring 1. My left kick, in fine form. Too bad from the way the pad is being held it makes it look all wierd and like it's squooshing my boob. Oh well. Notice how I'm glistening with sweat. We just drip. Anyhow, thassme, kickin arse!
I had Petsila at the beginning of the week for the first time in many weeks.... and I felt so sick and fatigued, it was awful. I knew I looked and trained like sh*t and had no power at all, and he didn't seem that into it, consequently. I almost had to finish at 3 rounds, but I stuck it out. I even apologized. I wasn't "contagious" or I wouldn't have gone, but by the time I was done I was dizzy and awful, UG!
The next day it was similar (I had him again). Finally, I had him a third time and I felt GREAT. And he smiled big after like half a minute and was like, "You feel BETTER today, Mary!" and started showing me new stuff and put a smile on my face.
It felt good.
I'm finally BACK.
Adjusted to the heat.
Sleeping again.
Eating great.
Moved to a new room at the gym, inside the gym, to rock the next six weeks.
And pumped.
Life is good!

You go girl! No fun training when you don't feel good! I have few questions (again), hope you don't mind:
The accommodation, I was kind of thinking of taking the more expensive private/shared deluxe bungalow; I go to bed early etc and I'm worried there's no privacy in the shared one, what do you think?
About training, how much sparring do you get, do you spar with trainers or also other students?
Is there anyone at the mo raining regular boxing..?
Thanks a lot and keep kicking, hope you continue feeling GREAT!
Laura
Ps. I think you should start getting at least free accommodation for being such a good spokesperson for the camp, I think your blog is a big influence when people choose which camp to go to.. hint hint if any camp staff read this! ;)
training not raining
Oh Laura! :-)
Okay, if you have the money - and it's not even a lot - LIVE ON YOUR OWN, FOR SURE. That is my numero uno, primo advice. Without question! And for the reasons you list, totally. ;-) They are right here at the gym, like RIGHT HERE, so it's all good and you can still hang with everyone when you want, but not when you don't want ;-)
Regular boxers - we had 1 girl here from Australia who is a pro boxer.... and she trained a bit and I think had one boxing fight, but to be honest, she kind of did her own thing and it was sort of exceptional. You can DO IT, but I don't think you can get a trainer to work with you on it, etc. Maybe do VIP just for punching, etc. then. That you can do. But it's still with elbows, etc. But I'll be happy to ask Danny about it, if you can do that.
Sparring: Different days you work on different things, kind of. Like tomorrow is Monday, grappling, after your 5 rounds on the bags and then with a trainer. I usually cut out for that, we'll see, though. Thursdays is the Wai Kru, or the ceremonial fight dance. I think 2 days are sparring...and usually with other students with a trainer showing you, etc. They may spar with you during your 5 rounds IF they know you are already educated is the deal, and if you can, do the VIP sessions - it comes out to $15 an hour, which is a steal.
P.S. I JUST got the email you sent me at my email address - I never check that account, doh. I think I tried to write you and my computer cut out on me, so I was going to try again, but I felt really bad because it's a month old and here I never wrote you back! So sorry! xo
THANKS, as always, FOR YOUR POSITIVITY AND SUPPORT. :-)
Thanks for reply - and don't worry about the email!!
If you can ask Danny about the boxing, that would be great, well, you have my email address. I would just like to know if I can spar with someone, I'm quite happy to do the bagwork by myself and so on.. but the sparring would be the most important part. I just don't think I want to add the kicks and elbows to my repertoire as I'm so keen on regular boxing.
BTW I think I've finally figured my favourite green smoothie. I quite like anything with mint and kiwi gives a nice sharp zing to a smoothie but today I made one using spinach, parsley and pineapple and that was really lovely!
Happy new week, today I was just thinking how much I want to be in Thailand with like-minded people. Soon.. soon soon!
Laura
Oh man, spinach parsley and pineapple sounds divine! I've had spinach, parsley and mango....mmmm! Nice and creamy.
I'll talk to Danny about the boxing for sure, this morning was sparring - with trainers and other students. Thought of you! What a beautiful morning, too. So GOOD to be BACK!
Come soon!
