Friday Matt, Bob and I went to a sushi buffet in Phuket town for his last lunch here. We went with Nui and her sister, who run the market 50 meters from the gym; they are good friends of the gym and they also have become good friends with Bob and I. They were the ones who hosted Pooh's birthday party, where they fed EVERYBODY in the neighborhood, and then some.
After we were STUFFED, Nui and her sister took us to Chalong Temple, a very famous temple in Thailand. Most of Thailand is Buddhist, although in southern Thailand there are a good number of Muslims. For instance 90% of our trainers are Muslim. Chalong Temple is a gorgeous Buddhist temple, and it was a real treat to visit it. Even though Nui was wearing a tank top, too, I was given a wrap to wear because apparently my tank top didn't cut it, so I had to cover up while in the temple. Fine because it was turquoise, which is one of "my colors" (LOL!)
From a website:
Chalong temple or Chai tararam temple Muang district, Phuket province is the most famous temple in phuket. It houses the statue of the late highly revered monk, Luang Po Cham. The monk led the people of Phuket to fight against the immigrant Chinese influx to Phuket for tin mining and wanted to capture the city in B. E. 2419 (A.D.1876) before the government sent it's troops to subdue the rebellion. King Rama V appointed Luang Po Cham with the ecclesiastical title of phura Kru wisit wongsacharn. Beside the statue of Luang Po Cham, his other title decorations are also displayed in the temple e. g. his walking stick and his painting on the second floor of the kuti (residence) of the abbot, too.
Below are a bunch of pictures from our day. As you can see for yourself, the temple and grounds surround it are just breathtaking . . . . . It truly was a great day!

Beautiful. I've been meaning to say, you look really tanned and happy and fit! Laura x
Thanks, girl! I do get tan quickly and easily; I don't lay out a lot because during training the sun sucks the life out of you, ditto for the water, and then afternoon training sucks.
I am happy.
I'm FITTER, but not at all where I want to be. It's old, stored crap I'm dealing with, which can be very resistant. Last 15 - 20lbs. Ug! But I'll continue at it at home...
xo
The temple looks lovely, but most temples in thailand are.
Have you been up to see the Big Bhudda on the hill, that is quit a nice trip and great views.
No, I need to get to the Big Buddha and get my monk blessing before I leave, for sure!
